RUZAANI MAY
Remembering Ru
OBITUARY
Ruzaani May, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away in Mesa, Arizona on May 27, 2023, at the young age of 15. Born in Plano, Texas on June 7, 2007, to proud parents Mathieu and Peggy May, Ruzaani was a beacon of curiosity and energy.
From a young age, Ruzaani's appetite for learning was insatiable. Whether he was running with his friends, flipping on a trampoline, or huddled in a corner with a book, his spirit was always aflame. His intellectual pursuits were diverse, ranging from history and mechanics to biblical studies, and he dreamed of mastering multiple languages.
When his sister Miliani was born, she became his world. The inseparable pair was a whirlwind of laughter and fun, their curiosity and energy filling every room. Family visits to his maternal grandparents, whom he loved dearly, allowed Ruzaani to explore the countryside and play by the ocean, further fueling his adventurous spirit.
In September 2022, Ruzaani was diagnosed with high-grade Osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer that originated in his knee and spread to his lungs. Despite his diagnosis, Ruzaani's spirit remained unbroken. He underwent chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumor in his knee, and he began physical therapy to regain motor function in his leg.
Ruzaani's hope and determination were unwavering. Even as his physical strength waned, his resolve did not. His dream of returning to rock climbing fueled his courage, and he sought out help from physicians and experts globally. He fought till the very end, maintaining his hope and never giving up, a testament to his incredible strength and resilience.
Ruzaani is survived by his parents, Mathieu and Peggy May, and his sister Miliani. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Peggy Bautista and Jose Carrillo.
As we remember Ruzaani, we remember a young man whose zest for life was infectious, and whose courage was awe-inspiring. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with.
